About Dr. Brian Richardson
Dr. Brian Richardson, MD, of Montgomery, AL, is a Urologist with over 17 years of experience treating medical conditions that affect the urinary tract or reproductive system. Richardson uses advanced diagnostic tools to identify disease or abnormal conditions in both male and female patients. These include imaging tests, bladder and kidney ultrasound, MRI, and Urodynamic testing, which can evaluate how well the bladder, urethra, and sphincters store and empty urine. EDUCATION
A St George’s Hospital Medical School graduate, Dr. Brian Richardson went on to complete his internship at the University of Florida College of Medicine. At UF, he spent a year in clinical training under the supervision of experienced doctors, gaining practical experience in various patient settings. Brian went on to complete his residency in Urology at Tulane University Health Sciences Center in 2011. Dr. Richardson was introduced to the latest in medical technologies while performing his residency at Tulane. This academic program is renowned for integrating cutting-edge technology in its approach to physician training.
Richardson has published research papers and articles in the Journal of Sexual Medicine and other peer-reviewed medical journals. As a testament to his commitment to using digital technologies to increase patient care outcomes, he obtained a CMS Meaningful Use Stage 1 Certification from NextGen Healthcare. This certification demonstrates that a medical professional understands the objectives and use of electronic health records (EHRs).

Dr. Brian Richardson, MD, has a long history in diagnosing and treating diseases and disorders related to the male and female urinary tract, specializing in treating the male reproductive system. During his career as a Urologist at Jackson Hospital, Richardson has treated patients with prostate cancer, urinary tract infections, kidney stones, incontinence, bladder cancer, erectile dysfunction, and more. He provides non-surgical or surgical treatments, depending on the patient’s diagnosis and medical history.
Brian Richardson was named Chief of the Department of Surgery at Jackson Hospital after years of dedicated service to the healthcare industry. In this role, he supervised the surgical department under his care, managed staff and trainees, and assisted during surgeries. He is also responsible for maintaining the department’s quality standards and financial reports.
Dr. Richardson has been elevated to the Chief of Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery role at Jackson Hospital. He has been acknowledged as a leader in non-invasive surgical techniques after performing over 4,000 surgeries and nearly 1,500 robotic cases at Jackson Hospital. He brings to the healthcare profession a passion for innovative surgical techniques and the most advanced patient care practices in the industry.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Dr. Richardson is an active member of the American Urological Association and the Southeastern Section of the American Urological Association. He is Vice-President of the Alabama Urology Network. He is also a member of the Montgomery Surgical Society, an organization committed to ongoing research into emerging medical technologies and improving the medical and ethical practices of its members and the industry at large. He is also President of Advanced Urology within the Alabama Urology Network. In this organization, Dr. Richardson promotes the use of robotic and minimally invasive surgical techniques in the field of Urologist.
As a Health Advocate, Brian uses his writing skills to engage medical students and professionals and share new and evolving techniques. His groundbreaking white paper, Incision and Grafting for Severe Peyronie’s Disease, a wound-healing disorder that can result in abnormal penile performance, was published in the CME for Medical Professionals.
Brian is emphatic about sharing knowledge, but he is equally dedicated to promoting writing skills in all individuals. He volunteered as a Writing Specialist for RSVP Montgomery and has appeared as a regular guest on morning television Health Moments.
